Sometimes, the best thing a person can do with their lives is to dedicate a portion of it to help where help is needed, As and When makes this process easier.
As and When is an online social enterprise – giving students, retirees, self-employed and corporates an opportunity to highlight their skills, knowledge, talents and time; this may be practical or professional. Contributions are shared and appreciated. Then when you need help you can search for the right person to assist you. Each transaction is worth 20 points, if however, you get to 0, we encourage you to help someone, to acquire more points. Or you can purchase them if you don’t wish to contribute at that time.
Shout about what you are good at, the skills and talents that make us all unique.
Either load a post and tell others what you can offer or search for something you feel you can help with.
In exchange for your helpful contribution, you will receive points and acknowledgement in a form of a GREAT post to add to your As and When profile. This post can also be shared on social media, your CV and website. People who feel appreciated will always do more.
With the points you earn from helping others you can ask for help too. Whether you’re looking for a little assistance or seeking help for a serious problem, asking for help is the first step towards positive progression.
Whether you are self-employed, a student, retired or working in a corporate environment, you have skills that are valuable to someone somewhere, so connect with others who can appreciate what you have to offer.
A My name is Zoe Phillips,
Founder of As and When.
“I wanted to make contribution easier for everyone, it shouldn’t be a challenge to give back to people”
I would like to take this opportunity to explain why I launched As and When. I had a desire to help make it easier to contribute and to ask for help in return from each other.
This was a journey that started with my beliefs:
Volunteering your time, talents, knowledge or energy to help others doesn’t just make the world better—it also makes you better. Studies indicate that the very act of giving back to the world boosts your own happiness, health, stress levels and sense of well-being.
Having worked in Personal Development for many years, I have also discovered that to be happy we need both Growth and Contribution! To enable us to grow, and contribute we need each other… I have always been passionate about making a difference and have tried various ways to do that, from working for charities, fostering, working with kids in care, working with mother and babies and women that self-harm in prison through to coaching. I tried to give back my skills, to society. What is the point of having skills/talents/knowledge if they are not going to be used to their fullest advantage? I found people wanted to do good, but it isn’t always made easy. For many people living with purpose is a highly sought after necessary. In an uncertain world, we are increasingly seeking purpose, meaning, and connection in our lives.
So, after turning down the offer of National Director of a coaching company, I spent a year putting together ideas, discovering how I would like to see the world progress.
Volunteering your time is profoundly rewarding and pleasurable. However, I also think that the donation of your highest strengths and talents is far more rewarding and pleasurable than traditional volunteering because it combines the elements of meaning and engagement. People’s skills, talent, and knowledge are an untapped resource and I believe in today’s market the philosophy of teach, so people know what you know and sell later when there is trust and connection, is a far more successful philosophy.
